The Lion King broadway musical will be held on 12/7/2011 - 1/8/2012 at Hippodrome Performing Arts Center in Baltimore, MD. The Lion King is a musical based on the 1994 Disney animated film of the same name with music by Elton John and lyrics by Tim Rice along with the musical score created by Hans Zimmer with choral arrangements by Lebo M. Directed by Julie Taymor, the musical features actors in animal costumes as well as giant, hollow puppets. The show is produced by Disney Theatrical. The show debuted in the West End's Lyceum Theatre on October 19, 1999 and is still running. The cast of the West End production were invited to perform at the Royal Variety Performance 2008 at the London Palladium on December 11, in the presence of senior members of the British Royal Family. The Lion King received four Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations. Miranda Lambert concert will take place on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore, MD. Miranda Lambert is an American country music artist who gained fame as a finalist on the 2003 season of Nashville Star, where she finished in third place and later signed to Epic Records. Lambert made her debut with the release of "Me and Charlie Talking", the first single from her 2005 debut album Kerosene. This album, which was certified Platinum in the United States, also produced the singles "Bring Me Down", "Kerosene", and "New Strings". All four singles were Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. In 2011, Lambert married fellow country singer Blake Shelton. Bob Seger concert will take place on Friday, November 25, 2011 at 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore, MD. Bob Seger is a singer-songwriter, guitarist and pianist. As a locally successful Detroit-area artist, he performed and recorded as Bob Seger and the Last Heard and Bob Seger System throughout the 1960s. By the early 1970s, he had dropped the "System" from his recordings, and he continued to strive for international success with other various bands. A roots rocker with a classic raspy, shouting voice, Seger was first inspired by Little Richard and Elvis Presley, along with James Brown. He wrote and recorded songs that dealt with blue-collar themes. Seger has recorded many rock and roll hits, including "Night Moves", "Turn the Page", and "Like a Rock", and also co-wrote the Eagles number one hit "Heartache Tonight". His iconic signature song "Old Time Rock and Roll" was named one of the Songs of the Century in 2001. With a career spanning five decades, Seger continues to perform and record today. Baltimore Orioles are a professional baseball team based in Baltimore, Maryland. They are a member of the Eastern Division of Major League Baseball's American League. Since 1992, the Orioles have played their home games at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The "Orioles" name refers to the official state bird of Maryland. Nicknames for the team include the O's and the Birds. One of the American League's eight charter franchises, it was established as a major league club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1901. The Milwaukee Brewers, as they were originally known, moved to St. Louis in 1902 and became the St. Louis Browns. After spending 52 years in St. Louis, the Browns moved to Baltimore in 1954 and adopted the Orioles name, which had been used by previous Baltimore baseball clubs. Baltimore Ravens are a professional American football franchise based in Baltimore, Maryland. They are a member of the American Football Conference's North Division in the National Football League (NFL). The team's name is a reference to the poem "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe, who lived and worked in Baltimore at various points during his life and is buried in the city. Its triumph over the New York Giants in Super Bowl XXXV at the conclusion of the 2000 season has been the only time thus far it has won the Super Bowl. The Ravens are currently one of only four teams to win in their lone Super Bowl appearance. The design of the Ravens uniform has remained essentially unchanged since the team's inaugural season in 1996. Helmets are black with purple "talon" stripes rising from the facemask to the crown.
