In return, he was allowed to take his own personnel and team to Baltimore, where such personnel would then form an expansion team. The team’s name was inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s poem The Raven—as Poe lived for a time in Baltimore, died and was buried there in 1849—and by the name of Major League Baseball’s Baltimore Orioles.

Ravens had a disappointing 2015 season in part due to injuries. Joe Flacco, Justin Forsett, Steve Smith, Sr., and Terrell Suggs all suffered season ending injuries. They were eliminated from playoff contention in Week 14 with a loss to the Seattle Seahawks, in which they also suffered their ninth loss, resulting their first losing season in the Harbaugh–Flacco era and first since the collapse of the Brian Billick era. Ultimately the Ravens finished with a 5–11 record and twenty-two players ended the season on Injured Reserve. Let’s hope that 2016 season will be much better than previous.
